Foto expositie: Ontdek de verborgen Noordzee / Photo exhibition: Discover the North Sea

Junio 06 2019 @ 12:30 PM - Junio 24 2019 @ 9:00 PM

On Thursday, the 6th of June, Oceana is opening a photo-exposition “Discover the hidden North Sea” on the Museumsquare in Amsterdam.

The outdoor exhibition, on display until 24rd of June, reveals the hidden gems of the North Sea that Oceana documented during its two recent expeditions. Through this action, the largest ocean protection organisation aims to make Dutch audience aware of the beauty of the North Sea and the urgency to protect its vulnerable biodiversity.

The World Oceans Day celebrated on the 8th of June is a great opportunity to bring local community closer to their sea. Colourful and surprising images of the region's habitats debunk the myth of the North Sea as a cold and dark sea, composed of murky waters and dull animals living in it.

Harnessing the Power of People to Fight Ocean Trash

The International Coastal Cleanup began more than 30 years ago, when communities rallied together with the common goal of collecting and documenting the trash littering their coastline. The movement was catalyzed by the passion and spirit of two committed individuals. Back in 1986, Linda Maraniss moved to Texas from Washington, DC, where she had been working for Ocean Conservancy.
