Plastic Free Venice

The UNESCO Regional Bureau for Science and Culture in Europe, Venice, in collaboration with various Venetian and national institutions including CNR-ISMAR and Veritas, is organizing a clean-up day for plastic waste that, incidentally or voluntarily abandoned, invade vast lagoon areas as well as the channels of the historic centre of Venice.  

The initiative is of a purely civic and educational nature, without any political connotation and open to every single individual or associations that intend to adhere on a personal or collective basis.

The clean-up activity, which aims at raising public awareness on the impact of abandoned plastic waste, will take place on 9 June. SkyTG24 TV programme, Sky Ocean Rescue - Un mare da Salvare, will follow klive the launch of the initiative from Venice on 8 June.

The activity, part of Citta di Venezia - Le Città in festa, is organized in collaboration with: Prontopia, CNR-ISMAR, VERITAS, Viva Voga Veneta, Row Venice, Real Venetian Kayak, AVA.

Chesapeake Bay Research and Management: Progress and Future Challenges

The Chesapeake Research Consortium / Chesapeake Community Modeling Program (CCMP) seeks to improve observational and modeling tools specific to the Chesapeake Bay and its surrounding environment by fostering collaborative, open source research. The purpose of the seventh biennial Chesapeake Community Research Symposium is to identify and showcase existing observational and modeling research efforts and decision support tools using data.
