The Business of Ocean Data

June 05 2019 @ 8:30 AM - 5:30 PM

Hosted By: Ocean Data Alliance

Date: Wednesday, June 5th

Time: 8:30am - 5:00pm

Location: New Lab, 19 Morris Ave building 128, Brooklyn, NY 11205

Description: The Ocean Data Alliance is hosting an event on Smart Ocean Cities at New Lab in Brooklyn on June 5th.  80% of the world's population lives in cities and many of those cities are on the coasts.  Cities like Copenhagen, Hamburg, and Rotterdam have reclaimed their industrial ocean zones and transformed them into public spaces with amenities like that
invite the public to see the ocean as an integral part of city life.  We believe that New York City can be the world's great Smart Ocean City and this event is being hosted at New York's top tech incubation lab (a former machine terminal in the Brooklyn Navy Yard) to invite the huge urban tech industry to instrument NYC ocean spaces, monetize the data, and remediate and restore the ocean to a natural habitat in harmony with humans.
