After docking in Motril on May 27, Peace Boat’s Ocean and Climate Youth Ambassadors will travel to Granada to take part in a public event at the Hospital Real organised by Comunidad Universitaria y Asociaciones Solidarias de Granada. The youth will share how the climate crisis is impacting their island communities. They will also introduce the activities that will take place in New York City to celebrate World Oceans Day.
To celebrate World Oceans Day, Peace Boat will start the third edition of the Ocean and Climate Youth Ambassadors Programme in Malta on May 24. The group of youth from the Pacific Ocean, the Indian Ocean, and the Caribbean will board the ship in Valletta. The youth will visit the University of Malta to meet students and professors for an interactive session covering various aspects of climate and ocean governance best practice. They will focus on ocean and climate literacy, marine litter, climate ocean nexus, awareness building among children and the youth.

Come out to Siesta Key Beach on June 8 for our World Oceans Day Beach Cleanup! Beach.com is partnering with Sarasota Country to host the cleanup along with free beach yoga before the cleanup. We will be giving out T-shirts to the first 50 volunteers and providing all cleanup supplies, along with hosting a raffle after the cleanup with prizes donated from local businesses.
A Beach Road cleanup drive has been planned for collection of plastic waste from Forest Building – GITAM College, Visakhapatnam, India . It is estimated an amount of 1.8 tons plastic waste and glass bottles would be 4 tons. We invite students and youths to volunteer with us.

One Planet One Future will open a new exhibition on June 3, 2019 called Water at Dusk in celebration of our oceans. The exhibition will run through June 29, 2019. Leading environmental artist, Anne de Carbuccia, aims to draw attention to the planet and the current environmental crisis through her art work that includes oceans, endangered species and environments. She also will debut her short documentary film, ONE OCEAN, in New York during this exhibition.
To celebrate World Oceans Day, Peace Boat is organizing the third edition of the Ocean and Climate Youth Ambassadors Programme from May 24 to June 8, 2019. Young leaders from the Pacific Ocean, Indian Ocean, and Caribbean who are active on issues related to climate change and ocean degradation will travel from Valletta (Malta) to New York (United States) with stops and activities in Motril and Granada (Spain), Tangiers (Morocco) and Ponta Delgada (Portugal). The group will board in Malta which organized the Our Conference in 2017. They also will visit Morocco which hosted COP22 in 2016.
Peace Boat, an NGO in Special Consultative Status with the United Nations and in partnership with the UN SDG Action Campaign, has carried out global educational and advocacy voyages for peace and sustainability since 1983. Peace Boat is a core member of the 2017 Nobel Peace Prize Laureate, the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons (ICAN). Peace Boat is now developing the Ecoship, enabling the reduction of CO2 emissions by 40%, achieving zero SOx and NOx emissions, and recycling 100% of its water and waste.
